Our Restaurant Executive Chef
William "Billy" Kelly
began his restaurant career at Ehring's Tavern, a four star German
restaurant in NYC, where he rose to Executive Chef. He has served
as a chef in several of Manhattan's finest restaurants, including
Coho's, The Water Club, and Bruno's Pen & Pencil, and in some of the
finest restaurants in NY's Westchester and Sullivan counties.
Billy moved to North Carolina in 1994 to assume the Executive Chef position at the Duke University R. David Thomas Center.
For lifestyle reasons, he moved to the Outer Banks in 1999, where he was head chef at a local restaurant. He joined the
Inn on Pamlico Sound to help us found our Fine Dining services in 2006.
The Restaurant at The Inn on Pamlico Sound
The Inn serves elegant gourmet dinners from four to seven nights each week, depending on season. In peak season, we are open seven nights, and open to the public for Sunday morning brunch. While our restaurant is primarily for our guests, we open a limited number of seats to the public each evening. Reservations are highly recommended, as the restaurant is generally filled to capacity by reservation before we open the doors each evening.
Our menu changes each day in accordance with the fresh ingredients our chefs discover on the island, most notably the fresh local seafood we feature. The fish we serve each evening is frequently taken from the nets of friends that very morning. In addition to our nightly Fresh Catch choices, we offer dishes each night built around our organic grain fed beef and organic vegetable fed chicken. We also offer vegetarian and young adult selections at each meal. Dinner is served on our large dining deck, weather permitting, as well as in our dining room. Enjoy a bottle of wine, champagne, or premium beer from our extensive selection. Private dinners served in guest rooms are available at a small added charge.
The Inn presents a relaxed fine dining experience, which may not be well suited to small children. Large parties of 10 or more, including large parties with children, can be accommodated by advance reservation.
Fish for Your Supper
Had a good day of charter fishing? Then have our chefs prepare your catch for you as the main dish of an elegant gourmet meal. Prices based on the catch and the number in your party. Please see the innkeepers or culinary staff for specifics.
The Simple Picnic
If your plans include a day at the beach, a leisurely kayak ride, a fishing charter, or a hike in Buxton Woods, our Simple Picnic is the perfect culinary companion. It's a casual and rugged picnic basked for two filled with overstuffed ciabatta bread sandwiches, fresh fruits and salads, and your choices of snacks and drinks. Priced at $30 for two persons.
The Elegant Picnic
Our Elegant Picnic is a multicourse gourmet dinner for two with appetizer, entre, fresh fruits and side dishes, and dessert pastries. Please see your innkeepers or our chef about each day's unique offerings. Your meal is presented in our elegant finely woven Picnic Time Barrel Basket with wine glasses, china, fine linens, full flatware service, corkscrew, and all necessary accoutrements. The Elegant Picnic is perfect for a private cruise, an evening at the beach, or any private, elegant, or romantic outing. Priced at $60 for two persons.
Wine and Cheese Services
A selection of fine cheeses, fresh fruits and berries, fine water crackers, and other choice breads and crackers chosen for freshness and availability. Presented in our elegant finely woven Picnic Time Vino Basket with wine glasses, corkscrew, cutting board, cheese knife, and cloth napkins. Perfect for an evening on Sunset Point, the beach, or an evening cruise. Priced at $40 for two persons.
Evening Indulgence Package
A selection of fine Belgian chocolates, fresh fruits and berries, and elegant cookies or pastries. Presented on a silver serving tray with wine glasses, china, fine linens, flatware, and corkscrew. Also available in our Picnic Time Vino Basket for an evening walk on the beach or a private cruise. Priced at $40 for two persons.
Breakfast "in Bed"
Enjoy a relaxed and romantic private breakfast with the one you love. Our staff will serve our famous three course gourmet breakfast in your room or on your private deck. While breakfast is always included in the room rate, a small service charge applies to private in room service.
